15 Days Gorilla and Chimpanzee Safaris

The safari entails the search for Chimpanzees and the endangered mountains gorillas, a journey through Uganda to Rwanda. The safari also provides chances to spot other wild animals such as the rare tree-climbing lions, elephants, leopards, Uganda kob among others.
Viewing the mountiain gorillas up close is quite a moving experience

Gorilla and Chimpanzee Safaris

Day 1: Arrive in Entebbe, Uganda

Land at Entebbe in the morning, where you will be transfered to Kampala Uganda. Spend the afternoon in leisure with short excrusion options like visits to the National Museum and Kasubi Tombs.

Day 2: Kampala to Kibale Forest National Park

On this day you be driven from your hotel in Uganda to a lodge in the heart of Kibale National Forest, . Kibale is home to more than 500 chimpanzees and 12 other primate species. Overnight in the lodge.

Day 3: Kibale Forest National Park

In the morning head out in the forest to track Kibale's chimps. You will propebly encounter these primates grooming, wrestling, or even mating. In the afternoon enjoy a ttrek through the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary and its surroundings forests. The area is well known for its thriving birdlife and a 6 species of other primates such as the red, black, and white colobus monkeys as well as red tailed monkey. This is a birdwatchers paradise.

Days 4: Drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park, you hone for the two days. Queen Elizabeth characteristic of miles of deep, verdant forest, volcanoes, and crater lakes, it's home to Uganda's great number of mammals including elephants, Uganda Kob, elusive tree climbing lions. Visits to Lake Edward are in order where you watch the elusive shoebill stork. You will be staying at Mweya Lodge.

Days 6 - 7: Kyambura Gorge, Maramagambo Forest

Early morning after breakfast head out to Kyambura Gorge from more Mountain Gorillas encounter. Lunch at Jacana Safari Lodge before proceeding on to Maramagambo Forest for nature walks. Maramagambo is one of Ugandas Largest tracts of tropica; rainforest.

The next day will be spent exploring the remote southern Ishasha region of Queen Elizabeth National Park, well known for it herds of elephant, buffalo, many species of antelope, and its tree-climbing lions!. Your stay is at Ishasha Wilderness Camp.

Day 8: Bwindi National Park

This is the day that you leave Queen Elizabeth National Park through the Western Rift Valley destined for Bwindi via a gorgeous panorama called the "the Switzerland of East Africa," for it's scenic beauty made up of mountains including the impentrable and the well known Kanaba Gap. Dinner and over night at eihter Gorilla Resort Camp, Mantana Tented Camo, or Buhoma Homestead.

Day 9: Kinigi

After an early breakfast drive through Kisoro, Kabale westwards crossing the Rwandan border through Ruhengeri after clearance at the border to Kinigi for dinner and an overnight.

Day 10: Parc National des Volcans

Leave early headed out to Volcanoes Natioanal Park, Local rangers will lead us through thick misty jungle in the Parc National des Volcans for our close up encounter with the mountain gorillas of Rwanda as well as other animals such as the habituated golden monkeys. Overnight stay and dinner at the Gorilla Nest hotel situated in Kinigi at the base of the Virunga mountains.

Day 11: Virunga Volcanoes – Kabale Uganda

Trek one more time up the forested slopes of the Virunga Volcanoes in search of these gentle Mountain Gorillas, before being transferred to Kabale for dinner and overnight at Arcadia Cottages.

Day 12: Lake Mburo National Park

Head out early in the morning for Lake Mburo where you will be able to see impalas, elands, klipspringer, hippos and crocodiles. After lunch enjoy boar rides on Lake Mburo. Before heading back to camp for dinner and overnight at Mantana luxury tented camps, Mihingo Lodge or Rwonyo Rest Camp.

Day 13: Lake Mburo Mbale

On this day after an early breakfast, you will head to tour the source of River Nile - the longest river in the wolrd, stretching north approximately 4000 miles from here to the Mediterranean. You will visit the Bujagali falls. Have a picnic lunch and then proceed to Mbale for dinner and overnight stay at Mbale Resort Hotel, Wash or Wills.

Day 14: Sippi Falls

As you approach the final leg of your safari you will proceed via Sironko to visit the Sipi falls - a series of three waterfalls which lie on the edge of Mount Elgon National Park near the Kenyan border. After lunch return to Kampala then proceed to Entebbe for Dinner and over night at the Boma Guest House or Botanical Beach hotel.

Day 15: Ngamba Island

The final leg of your 2 weeks gorilla and chimpanzee safari, on this day you depart for an early morning excursion to Ngamba Island. where you will be transported by boat for a one more view of the chimpanzees feeding on the visitor’s Platform, before heading for the airport for your next flight back home.
