Fun filled walking safari holiday on the foothills of Mount Kenya in Lewa Wildlife Conservancy. Lewa is a privately held wildlife sanctuary run by the Graig family. Wildlife attractions in Lewa comprises of over 70 species of wild animals and around 440 species of birds. Loins, leopards, hyenas, black and white rhinos, Grant's gazelle, buffalo, zebras, reticulated giraffe, eland, Beisa oryx, impala and waterbuck are some of the wildlife attractions at Lewa.

The reserve supports over 440 species of birds and more than 70 different mammals, and is viewed by many people as one of the classic game-viewing areas of Kenya, in addition to being ideal walking country. Lewa is also famous for its annual marathon, run entirely within the reserve, and for being the place where Prince William proposed to Kate Middleton!

With effectively only three member camps at this point in time, Lewa remains totally unspoilt by tourism. For our Walking Safari here we have suggested the itinerary detailed below. Always remember, though, that everything is completely flexible, and your trip can be individually tailored to your own particular wishes.

Day 1 Lewa Safari Camp

Once you arrive at Lewa Wildlife Conservancy around lunch time, you will be checked in at the Lewa Safari Camp. The camp is situated close to the conservancy’s west gate. Later on after lunch you can spend the afternoon |either on Lewa game drive, or a short guided walking safari around within the vicinity of the camp.

You will spend the next 2 days at Lewa Safari Camp exploring the area as you warm up for more rigorous walking safari ahead.

Day 4 & 5 Sirikoi Camp

On this day you will depart from Lewa Safari Camp, destined for Sirikoi Camp. This walk to Sirikoi marks the first major walking safari to undertake. You will arrive at camp in time for lunch. Later on in the afternoon after a well deserved rest you can either choose to take a walk or head out for a game drive until late in the evening when you head back to camp.

Don’t miss to catch some sun-downer to conclude your day either at camp or at some selected viewing point. After your evening meal, you may head out for yet another game drive in Lewa to catch the nocturnal animals as they emerge from the darkness.

Day 6 & 7 Wilderness Trails Camp

After breakfast on this day you walking safari will take you to Wilderness Trails Camp situated in Lewa Wildlife Conservancy. Your will spend two days here enjoy a variety of holiday themed activities such as walking, day and night game drives, picnics, bush meals, sundowners, photography and camel safaris among others.

Day 8 - 10

As you approach the final leg of this 10 days walking safari in Lewa, you will take the final walking safari traversing the conservancy to the point where the walking safari started. This will be the mother of all the walking you undertook.

You will enjoy will spend the last 2 days warming down as you go out game drives, bush meals, picnics, guided walking safari, camel rides, and photography sessions.
