Journey to the Jade Sea is an 8 days enthralling adventure safari taking you to the remote and arid Northern Frontier Districts of Kenya. On this safari you will visit Samburu National Park for game viewing & cultural encounters with the Samburu people .... before reaching Lake Turkana - "the Jaded Sea"

An action adventure safari through the remote and arid regions of northern Kenya frontier districts to the "Cradle of Mankind" and legendary Lake Turkana (The Jaded Seas). Interact with fascinating local tribes, amazing geography, and view unusual wildlife.

Minimum number in a group is 6 people

Day 1 Nairobi - Samburu

On this day you will leave Nairobi early in the morning heading towards north through the fertile areas of the Central Highlands, past vast pineapple plantations, coffee farms and rural towns. We make a stop in the equator town of Nanyuki for lunch. From here Mount Kenya is just a stone’s throw away, however you will drive on via Isiolo to the Samburu Game Reserve.
Dinner and an overnight stay at a camp in Samburu.

Day 2 Samburu Game Reserve

Spend this day on extend day and night game drives Samburu in search of some of the more unusual species found in northern Kenya - Grevy's zebra, Beisa Oryx, Gerenuk, Reticulated Giraffe and Somali Ostrich. Other animals commonly seen are elephants, buffalo, cheetah, leopard, lion, and spotted hyena.
Dinner and an overnight stay at a camp in Samburu

Day 3 Samburu - Marsabit

After breakfast you will head out north towards Marsabit, an extinct volcano heavily forested on its upper slopes. After lunch, the rest of the day is at leisure.
Overnight camp or budget hotel.

Day 4 Marsabit - Kalacha

Driving further northwards through desert and lava flows we reach Kalacha, a small Gabra settlement on the edge of the Chalbi Desert.

Overnight camp.

Day 5 Kalacha - Lake Turkana

We depart early crossing the Chalbi Desert. The desert cannot be crossed if wet but there are alternative routes to the north and south. We reach Loiyangalani, situated on the south-eastern shore, and proceed to the camp for lunch.
The rest of the afternoon is at leisure.

Day 6 Lake Turkana

The day is spent at leisure, either relaxing by the lake, exploring the local area, or taking an optional excursion to an El Molo village.
Dinner and overnight at the camp.

Day 7 Lake Turkana - Maralal

Heading south from Loiyangalani we proceed via South Horr and Baragoi to Maralal, a Northern Frontier town located in the hills above the Loroghi Plateau. If time permits, a camel ride can be taken in the surrounding area.
Overnight camp.

Day 8 Maralal - Nairobi

After breakfast, depart Maralal for Nairobi with a lunch stop enroute at Thomson's Falls.
Arrive in Nairobi in the late afternoon.
