11 Days Rwanda Uganda Mountain Gorilla Safari

Tour Highlights

Day 1, Arrival in Rwanda

You will be met on arrival at airport by our Company driver Guide and transfer to Kigali and get briefed about your safari. After lunch, depart for Parc National des Volcanoes at 2pm. The journey north goes through the beautiful terraced hillsides that show much of Rwanda's landscape, gradually climbing to the base of the awesome Virunga volcanoes, sometimes with as many as five peaks visible. Overnight at Volcanoes Virunga Lodge/Mountain Gorilla View Lodge/Kinigi guest House (FB).

Day 2, Gorilla tracking in Rwanda's Parc National des Volcans

After an early morning breakfast, you will go for gorilla tracking in Parc National des Volcans. Tracking the gorillas through the light mountain forest on the slopes of the Virunga is a wonderful experience. If you are lucky you can get to the gorillas, spend an hour with them, and be back at the lodge in time for a late lunch. Some gorilla families however are more elusive and tracking can take a full day, especially when it is wet and muddy. Overnight at Volcanoes Virunga Lodge/Mountain Gorilla View Lodge/Kinigi Guest House (FB).

Day 3, Golden Monkey tracking.

You will have an early morning breakfast and after, you will have a golden monkey track. These golden monkeys are the most endangered primates in the Volcanoes. After lunch, you will have an optional community walk. Dinner and Overnight at Volcanoes Virunga Lodge/Mountain Gorilla View Lodge/Kinigi guest House (FB).

Day 4, Transfer to Uganda.

After a heavy breakfast, you will cross the Katuna Border to Uganda and transfer to Mgahinga National Park of Uganda while preparing for the next day 2nd Gorilla Trek. Dinner and overnight at Volcanoes Mount Gahinga Lodge/Nkuringo safari Lodge (FB).

Day 5, 2nd time gorilla tracking in Mgahinga national park.

After a morning breakfast, you will go for briefing from the Uganda wildlife Authority officials and then later transfer for Gorilla tracking. Alternatively, you can go for hiking on Mountain Gahinga. Return later for dinner and overnight stay at Volcanoes Mount Gahinga Lodge/Nkuringo safari Lodge (FB).

Day 6, Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable forest National Park

After breakfast, transfer to Bwindi forest Park the Home of most Gorillas in Uganda through the famous Switzerland of Africa. The roads from Kisoro to Kabale are meandering and provide distant scenic views of the hills and valleys with their natural beauty and attractions. You will reach Bwindi in the afternoon where you will check in at your lodge before you set off for a community walk around Buhoma Village. Dinner and overnight at Volcanoes Bwindi Lodge/Gorilla resort/Buhoma community Bandas (FB)

Day 7, Gorilla tracking in Bwindi

After breakfast you will transfer to the park headquarters for the briefing by the park guides, before you set off for the trek. The trek has no fixed duration time as it depends on the last night of where the apes slept from how ever it may be 2-9 hours depending on the movement of the giant primates. The activity is tiresome, it involves walking along steep hilly tracks however encountering these great relatives of man erases all the poor memories/ hardships you went through in trying to find them. They are awe-inspiring! Dinner and overnight at as above. (FB)

Day 8, Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

You will have a morning breakfast at the Lodge, after which drive through the Ishasha sector to Queen Elizabeth National Park, You will have your lunch en-route. Look out for the rare tree climbing lions. You will reach in the afternoon. Dinner and overnight at Simba safari camp /Mweya safari Lodge or Jacana /Hippo hill camp. (FB)

Day 9, Game drive and Launch cruise.

Early morning wake up, have breakfast and then set off for a game drive in the Kasenyi sector and Queens Mile. The drive through the park will reward you with game like Lions. Elephants, leopards, hyenas, warthogs, bush pigs, white stripped jackal, bush bucks and others. You will then return to the lodge for lunch to go for a launch cruise in the afternoon. You will go for a cruise on the Kazinga channel that connects lakes Edward and Kyoga for game like, Hippos buffaloes and plenty of birds Both Migrant and residents. Dinner and overnight as above. Day 10, Chimpanzee tracking in the Kyambura Gorge and forest birding

Have breakfast in the morning and after set out for chimpanzee tracking in the Kyambura Gorge. Chimpanzees are one of man's closest friends. However, it is not a guarantee that you will see the chimps since its population is quite mobile and viewing is unpredictable. Return for Lunch and after go for a forest birding walk in Maramagambo forest to see most of the bird species that Queen Elizabeth Holds. Dinner and overnight stay as above. (FB)

Day 11, Transfer to Kampala.

You will have breakfast at the lodge and after transfer back to Kampala. en route you will have lunch in Mbarara town and also have a stand at the Equator. Proceed to the royal drum village and have a look at how the local drums are made. Drop off will be at your Hotel in Kampala or at the Airport at Entebbe depending on your time of departure.
