Day 4 – Gorilla Trekking

Return to the Virunga Forests for more gorillas trekking and later proceed to Gishenyi - the largest port on the Rwandan shore of Lake Kivu. Gisenyi is well worth a visit, especially as it lies little more than an hour by road from the gorilla tracking base of Ruhengeri. Dinner and overnight at Hotel Malahide (FB)

Day 5 – Lake Kivu boat cruise

A full day in Gisenyi gives you an opportunity to swim and sun-bathe at this beautiful beach which can be mistaken for a sweaty West African or Indian Ocean backwater. The natural coolness prevalent in consequence makes a visit there a very agreeable experience. In front are the swirling breakers of the most beautiful of the central African lakes, framed in by banks which fall back steeply from the rugged masses of rock; at the rear the stately summits of the eight Virunga Volcanoes including the recently erupted Nyiragongo Volcano (2002). Dinner and overnight at Hotel Marahide(FB)

Day 6: Reserved for departure

Drive back to Kigali after breakfast, time permitting, we can take a visit to Gisozi genocide memorial site in Kigali before heading to teh airport for your departure flight.
