8 Days Bushmen of Tanzania

Tour Highlights

This tour takes you to meet the bushmen of the Hadzabe, Barbaig and Datoga tribes who are still living in bush and caves wearing game’s skins and eat game meat, roots and rodents. You will experience and enjoy their hunting style, bush life and ancient rock paintings and also game drives Bushmen of Tanzania

Day 1: Arusha – Babati

Morning drive to cover some 172 km in approx 3hrs 40min to arrive at Babati for a walk or drive to Lake Babati where there are large bodies floating on the Lake. After lunch at Kahembe’s Guesthouse, visit commercial farms of the local people.
Dinner and Overnight in the guesthouse or Camp.

Day 2: Babati – Hanang

Morning drive to Katesh Hanang for lunch, and afternoon walking through the bush over the mang’ati plains to arrive in Dima at Mzee Gavachu’s Boma. This is a village of the Barbaig bushmen tribe.
Dinner and Overnight in the Boma and Camping.

Day 3: Hanang

Monring walk to explore the Brarbaig to see how marriage, burial, religious rituals and local taboos are practised.Proceed to visit the local school and dispensary.
Dinner and Overnight in Boma Masai

Day 4: Katesh – Kondoa Irangi

Morning walking to Katesh to board your bus, then drive to Kondoa Irangi. Visit the Rock Paintings; experience the existence of ancient man in Tanzania through these rock paintings.
Dinner and overnight in Quest house or Camping

Day 5: Kondoa – Lake Eyasi

Morning drive back to Katesh. Proceed to Lake Eyasi via Ayeda chini. Afternoon at leisure or walk around the soda Lake which is the breeding center for flamingos.
Dinner and overnight in Cottages or Camping

Day 6: Lake Eyasi

Morning walking to track the bushmen of Hadzabe tribe who are living in the area, experience their bush life style, their main activities is to hunt for the food, they also eat rodents.
Dinner and Overnight

Day 7: Lake Eyasi – Mto wa Mbu

Morning drive to Mto wa Mbu in Manyara with a stop at lab. Manyara viewpoint. Mto wa mbu village, is famous for congestion of people from different tribes of Tanzania including some from nearby country. Each tribe following its traditional and culture. Proceed to walk to Miwaleni and waterfall.
Afternoon at leisure. Dinner and Overnight

Day 8: Manyara – Arusha

Morning game drives in Lake Manyara National Park in search of look for lion, elephant, giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, hippo, baboons and many water birds on the Lake Manyara.
After lunch, drive back to Arusha
